Preliminary inquiry revealed that the duo used to steal mangoes from giant groves and promote them in Tirupattur, Jolarpet, Ambur and Vellore.
Two individuals had been arrested on Wednesday for stealing one tonne of mangoes from groves round Vaniyambadi. The arrested individuals had been recognized as B. Chiranjeevi, 21, and his confederate S. Annamalai, 20. Each of them are residents of Mantharakuttai village close to Vaniyambadi city. The police stated that farmers in Chickkanankuppam, Devasthanam, Irunapet and Jafrabad villages that come underneath Vaniyambadi taluk have been cultivating mangoes of their groves for a few years. Every mango grove, on a median, is round 10-15 acres in these villages. In current weeks, farmers observed that a lot of mangoes had been lacking from bushes in these groves. Subsequently, a gaggle of farmers from these villages filed a grievance with Vaniyambadi taluk police. The police elevated surveillance in these groves, particularly at night time. Throughout routine automobile verify, the police stopped the duo, who had a bag containing mangoes. Preliminary inquiry revealed that they used to steal mangoes from giant groves and promote them in Tirupattur, Jolarpet, Ambur and Vellore. A case was registered. Later, they had been lodged on the sub-jail in Tirupattur city, police stated.
