The Kallakurichi police on Tuesday, Could 7, 2024, arrested a 39-year-old man on fees of dishonest a farmer of ₹80,000 by swapping his debit card with one other card, at an ATM in Kallakurichi.

The police mentioned Periyasamy, 55, a farmer of Kuthiraichanthal, tried to withdraw money from an ATM in Kallakurichi on April 1. Unable to hold out the transaction, he sought the assistance of a person, R. Devarajan of Salem who was standing within the kiosk. Pretending to assist, the person checked the steadiness after getting the famer’s PIN. He then swapped the farmer’s card with one other one and withdrew the ₹80,000 in a number of transactions.

The complainant discovered that somebody had withdrawn money from his checking account. He realised that his debit card had been swapped by the one who helped him on the ATM kiosk. He lodged a criticism with the Kallakurichi police who perused the CCTV footage within the kiosk and arrested Devarajan.
