Richard Moll, a character actor who gained fame as a gentle giant bailiff on the original sitcom “Night Court,” has passed away at the age of 80.
Moll died on Thursday at his home in Big Bear Lake, California.
From 1984-1992, Moll portrayed “Bull” Shannon on NBC’s “Night Court,” alongside Harry Anderson and John Larroquette. His character formed a close friendship with Roz Russell, played by Marsha Warfield. Bull was known for his catchphrase, “Ohh-kay,” and his endearing but naïve worldview.
After the end of “Night Court,” Moll lent his distinctive voice to various video games and comic book projects, such as “Batman: The Animated Series.” He also appeared in horror films such as “Ghost Shark” (2013) and “Slay Belles” (2018).
Moll voiced Scorpion on the 1990s’ “Spider-Man: The Animated Series” and had small roles in films such as “The Flintstones” (1994), “Jingle All the Way,” and “Scary Movie 2.”
The actor, standing at 6 feet 8 inches tall, did not join the reboot of “Night Court” that starred Larroquette. The original show’s finale had his character being abducted by aliens who required someone of his height to reach high shelves.
Moll is survived by his children, Chloe and Mason Moll, his ex-wife Susan Moll, and stepchildren Cassandra Card and Morgan Ostling.
