In a tragic car accident near Nagari, five people were killed and eight others were injured, with four of them in critical condition. The accident occurred when a cement-laden lorry collided with a stationary truck, a car, and a two-wheeler in Dharmapuram village, close to the Tamil Nadu border. The incident took place 55 km from Tirupati on Friday afternoon.
According to reports, the cement-laden lorry was on its way to Chennai when it struck a stationary truck and collided with a car and a two-wheeler traveling in the opposite direction. It also hit some workers who were engaged in road-marking.
This collision resulted in the deaths of five individuals. The victims included a father and his two young sons, as well as two road workers. The deceased have been identified as Bhupal, his two sons Nitin and Umesh (who were minors), and road workers Kannan and Babu.
Bhupal’s wife, Leelavathi, and three road workers sustained critical injuries, while the four occupants of the car suffered minor injuries. They were all immediately taken to the government area hospital in Nagari, and three of them were later transferred to the SVRR Hospital in Tirupati.
Following the accident, traffic on the Puttur-Chennai NH came to a standstill. The police, along with locals, took prompt action and arranged for ambulances from Nagari to clear the traffic. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
